Inspired by: Lily Collins PFW

What happens when you combine a fashion risk-taker with an up-to-date trendsetter? Lily Collins. When Lily showed up to the PFW Givenchy's Spring/Summer show yesterday, her outfit sparked some talk about wether or not it was suited to be a front row outfit. Nonetheless, I absolutely LOVE Lily's oversized sweater look and the fact that it can be very wearable in everyday life. By pairing the graphic sweater with heels and jewelry can be an easy way to look chic, yet edgy (but make sure the sweater is long enough!). With oversized pieces (sweaters in particular) being a staple piece for this fall, this look can be a great transition outfit until the cooler months. Another way of styling the sweater, could be with unseen leather shorts and knee high boots a la Danielle Bernstein.

With fashion month coming to an end, (if you haven't noticed) one of my favorite things to do this month was find wearable, everyday outfits that celebrity onlookers wore. Daily outfit inspiration was in the air at each fashion week's shows, and if you have a chance to google some fashion week street style, I highly recommend it. For more oversized sweaters, I found a similar animal sweater from Urban Outfitters, but also check out Erin's older post for her graphic picks!

OOTD: Game day at the Zou!

Just in-case none of you knew, football game day at any SEC (Southeastern Conference) school is a HUGE deal. One of the biggest things about game day is obviously what you wear minus the delicious food and very entertaining tailgates. Every girl is dressing to impress! In years past, everyone just wore jeans and a t-shirt with the schools logo on it but things have definitely changed. Nowadays, all the girls wear dresses or jeans and a fab blouse but they just make sure that it has the school's colors in it (hence the black and gold we are wearing)! So, we decided to give you a look into what we wear when it's game day at Mizzou!
Xx, Erin!

Rae is wearing black romper from H&M, belt from Nordstrom and Hunter Rain boots. I am wearing a black dress from H&M, blouse from Apricot Lane and gladiators from Target.

Philipp Plein: MFW S/S 2014

This week Milan Fashion Week has been hitting some major highs with shows, the frow, and street style. At Versace, Selena Gomez looked AH-mazing in an all black cut-out dress with a dark lip, proving once again, that she can pull off anything flawlessly. But, the talk of the town this week has been Philipp Plein. From Iggy Azalea's pre-show twerking performance to statement word clothing pieces, Plein proved that he can pull off a high energy entertaining show and still have his clothing be the highlight of the night. With a typical color palette of white and black, Plein added an extra edge to his look by including pops of metallic color and fabric in pink and blue. The to-die-for styling of hats, high socks, and bomber jackets added a 90's L.A. street edge to his looks (YAY!). The most frequent looks involved leather, circle skirts, and cropped trousers that could definitely translate into everyday styling. I highly recommended checking out all looks for inspiration. Overall LOVING what I am seeing at MFW and I'll post my favorite looks from Philipp Plein's show below!

And the talked about statement piece....high five Philipp Plein.

OOTD: Downtown Dinner

Today we have some exciting news! After thinking and talking, Erin and I have decided that we would both like to add a little different side to our blog. From now on, we are going to start posting certain OOTD's so you guys can have a feel of what we actually wear, as well as putting our faces to our names. We're so excited to start sharing this and will also be posting these pictures on our Instagram! We decided last minute to take these pictures on my iPhone on the way to dinner with our friends, so bare with us here on the bad quality; We promise we will make up for it in future posts. I decided to pair my distressed jeans with a classic white button down and black booties. Accessorizing with gold jewelry and my gold studded black purse pulled the outfit together. Erin decided to rock her distressed boyfriend jeans with a floral print blazer and white oxfords for a girly, preppy feel. In our next OOTD posts we hope to have more quality pictures highlighting the clothing pieces better. Let us know what you guys think. Until next time!

The Perfect Pair

When waking up for my 8 AM class yesterday, I was more than exhausted. I've spent the past few nights locked up in the library studying and writing papers until the late hours of the night. But, yesterday morning I got an energy boost more intense than a Venti coffee, when I woke up to an email from Teen Vogue saying I was selected for Fashion University in New York City! After applying over the summer, the fact that I leave in less than a month for the weekend fashion seminar seems surreal. With also never being to NYC, you can understand how ecstatic I am for this opportunity. I have been scouring the internet for the perfect pairs of jeans that I will need for this fall, especially with this trip in mind. With the weather still being extremely humid and warm (much to my dismay), I haven't felt the need to even look at denim. After getting some inspiration from the lovely casual looks of both Fashion Weeks, I have finally made my denim wish list for fall. Because of my body type, I tend to gravitate towards high waisted styles of denim to suit my short, pear shaped frame. My picks for jeans include simple high waisted black (favorite!), light wash, and indigo pairs for your typical everyday wear, as well as having the fall colors of army green and oxblood to create the perfect pop of color. Then following the distressed and oversized trends, my picks combine both styles, killing two birds with one stone. For a simple outfit tip on how to style oversized jeans, check out one of my older posts. Finding the perfect pair of jeans is always a gamble, so fingers crossed there's luck for all of us!

Inspired By: Suki Waterhouse LFW

With London Fashion Week coming to an end, I have to say this year's shows and street style have been some of my favorites thus far. The street style has been all over the place (in a good way!), which please every people with a different fashion taste. Even though there are countless looks this week, one of my favorite looks this week would have to be Suki Waterhouse's at the Burberry Prorsum show. The verstatility of this outfit is what drew me to it in the first place; It screams "fashion week", as well as being a look that you wouldn't second guess if seen on the street. With the total price of this whole outfit equaling almost a semester of tuition for me, I took on the role of finding similars that I listed below!

Let's Talk about the FROW

So some of you may be wondering what exactly does the frow mean. . . Well I am here to let you know. "The Frow" is what people call the the front row of fashion shows. From the who is who of the fashion industry to A-Listers to bloggers, one of the biggest talks of any fashion week is who is going to be sitting in the front row of the top fashion shows. Safe to say that even though London Fashion Week has only just started, the FROW is full of big names. For the Topshop Unique show, a couple of famous faces were Kate Moss, Ellie Goulding, Anna Wintor and blogger Danielle Bernstein. For House of Holland, Harry Styles, Kelly Osbourne, Alexa Chung and Ellie Goulding were present.  And of course for one of the biggest shows in LFW, Burberry didn't disappoint with a star studded FROW. A few stars at Burberry were Sienna Miller, Suki Waterhouse, Paloma Faith, and Harry Styles. I cannot wait to see what other celebrities will show up for the rest of fashion week and at what shows they'll be sitting front row at.
Below are a few pictures of the FROW.

London Fashion Week: Topshop & Burberry

After a busy weekend of homework and studying, I am finally back into my daily routine of sitting at Starbucks and blogging in between classes. Honestly, I think I really use this time to regain my sanity each day. With a busy week ahead of me with tests and papers, it hasn't stopped me from stalking all forms of social media during this week's shows. With a few standout favorites from the first 4 days of LFW, I knew I needed to share. Of course, Topshop Unique's show was a favorite for me. With the designs being inspired by vacationing in Ibiza, there were short shorts, billowy dresses, and bags in shades of green, yellow and blue, as well as earthy patterns. Leading the finale was Queen of the runway Cara Delevingne, ending the show in all white with splashes of colored embellishments. With Unique being a top talk of fashion week, Topshop once again proved why they are a staple brand.

Cara Delevingne at Topshop Unique S/S 2014

One of the most iconic British fashion brands to ever grace LFW is hands down Burberry. Known as the definition of British fashion, Burberry is one of the most successful world-wide labels. The show today featured sophisticated, structured clothing highlighted by pretty, pastel prints. Instead of screaming "girly" because of the pastel colors, the coats, pencil skirts, and fitted tops kept their high fashion feel. Also highlighted at this show, was the designer's love for floral inspired embellishments which have been seen all over the runway in London this week. Need another another reason to know why Burberry is so special? The brand is exclusively letting you purchase the designs straight from the Runway until September 30th. Fab.

Is it obvious that Cara is one of my favorite models yet...? Oops. While browsing through pictures of the runway shows, it's also become clear to me that the Street Style from London is proving to be just as good as it was during NYFW. Stay tuned for more posts about the designs and street style from LFW.

Best Dressed Moments of NYFW

With NYFW coming to a close and the spotlight heading across the pond, it is only right that we applaud the well-dressed women (and men!) in attendance. Throughout the week, certain designers have stood out and made a statement, with street style moments being no exception. Certain moments and outfits were sure to catch the eye of many bloggers like myself. Starting off the list of the Best Dressed Moments at NYFW for me is Jamie Chung. Being a Fashion Week veteran, Jamie sported a draped leather jacket and animal print backstage, as well as being in front row attendance of shows almost everyday. With her style differing from day to day (see Day 1), it is no surprise that she killed it every time.

Also, no surprise here when I add Danielle Bernstein onto my Best Dressed List. Keeping up with Danielle during the week was fairly easy considering I get her tweets sent to my phone (yep.. I'm that girl), and with multiple outfit changes a day she still managed to look chic every time. My favorite look of hers is shown below with booties, long shorts, and her patent alligator Topshop sweater that I will be (not) patiently waiting to come online for! From pointed heels to pink jumpsuits, Danielle showed off her flawless style front row and after hours.

 Danielle Bernstein NYFW Day 3

For me, the next girl on the list's style was a little bit difficult to find considering she spent almost EVERY moment backstage or on the catwalk. And, obviously, I am talking about Supermodel Karlie Kloss. Karlie opened or closed (Or both!) or every show she walked in, as well as having to do countless hair and makeup changes through the week. When attending DKNY's 25th Anniversary Party, Karlie fit in perfectly with a cobalt blue and black dress with matching peep-toe heels. Can you say perfection?

Jessica Biel also wow'ed in a tight leather dress with perfect pin-straight hair at the Daily Front Row Fashion Media Awards. Known for her simple, flawless style, Jessica once again proved she can do no wrong in this Fall A-list style dress. Paired with a white clutch and pointed toe flats, it evened out the edgy feel, but could have easily been played up edgier with the right accessories. Once again Mrs. Timberlake, we get it, you're fabulous.

I wish I could go on and on with more pictures of the women that deserve to be on the list, but instead of making a post that would cover my blog home page, I'll leave you with a detailed list. Other best dressed moments include Jules Sarinana everyday outfits (especially Rebecca Minkoff!), Alyssa Milano at Marissa Webb, Ashley Greene at Marchesa and surprisingly Bella Thorne at Tadashi Shoji. With London Fashion Week starting tomorrow, I'm extremely excited to see what the designers have in mind for next season. Keeping the Fashion Week posts a trend, this next week will be all about the Brits and their own street style. Until next time!

ASOS Fall '13 Trend Guide

Taking a side step from all of the craziness of NYFW, I went onto asos.com (one of my favorite online stores of course) to browse and possibly do some shopping. While on the women's page, I saw section called "Fall '13 Trend Guide" and being my curious self I clicked on the page to see what ASOS had as their Fall '13 trends. The trends posted were called: Punk it Up, Girl World, Denim Clash, Winter Pastels, Oversized Coats, Club Kids and Mini Trends. The Mini Trends included top-handle bags, iconic sweatshirts and wild prints just to name a few. As you all can guess my favorite trends are Punk it Up and Oversized Coats. Any excuse I have to wear tartan, leather or something oversized I am 100% down. Needless to say, all of the trends that they had on their page are on point! I mean what more do you expect from ASOS?! Below are some of my favorite pieces from all of their trends and definitely go take a look and pick out your own favorite items!

Trend Spotting: NYFW Street Style

Taking a break from posting about the shows right now at NYFW, I've decided to take a closer look into the street style going on in the Big Apple right now. From front row celebrities to our fellow fabulous bloggers, everyone has been putting their best foot forward in fashion this week. One of my favorite trends of the week so far, has been the animal prints clutches that a few of the best bloggers have been toting around. When worn correctly, animal prints can look extremely high fashion and classy. Seen below on my blogger favorites Jules Sarinana and Danielle Bernstein, you can keep the outfit simple and chic by pairing the clutch with basic colored pieces. With animal print being big this fall, it is a fun, small way to spice up any outfit!

Little Bo Peep

Am I the only one absolutely obsessing over this look?! When I saw this picture on Instagram today, I immediately took a screenshot and knew I had to share with you guys. The peep-toe oxfords and ruffled socks are a completely classy, girly, and wearable look shown here at the Thom Browne NYFW show today. The edginess of the heels downplays the frill of the socks, yet completely compliments them at the same time. If you want to recreate the look then check these socks from Topshop, plus they are having free shipping right now too! Winning. I've been searching for the perfect pair of black and white brogues for this fall, and this picture just fueled my search even more. If any of you have any suggestions PLEASE let me know below!

AllSaints: NYFW S/S 2014

With almost all of my clothing coming from British-based retailers, I was more than excited to see AllSaints NYFW debut this year. And let me tell you, they did NOT disappoint. I was blown away by their Spring collection and their Women's and Men's designs were on point. With the brand already being known as "British rock-n-roll chic", it was no surprise when the clothing palette was focused around black, white and brown, with the occasional flash of red. Their incorporation with leather in Spring is what really made them stand out to me. Their key pieces for the collection seemed to be revolving around oversized vests, fitted trousers, as well as shorts ranging from shorter to longer length and all I can is "Wow". I'll leave you guys with my favorite looks from the collection and my final word: AllSaints absolutely killed it in their debut this year. Props!

Victoria Beckham: NYFW S/S 2014

Victoria Beckham is known for designing clothes for the more classic, Uptown girl and this season she is doing the complete opposite. With the basic colors of black and white (while adding a splash of pink), she made clothes for a more urban and edgier type of woman. And let me tell you, I am loving it. Mesh netted tops, bomber jackets and ruffled skirts were seen throughout the entire show and those were also seen at different shows. Just comes to show that the edgy/grunge look is here to stay and I couldn't be happier! Below are a few of my favorite looks from the show!

Rag and Bone: NYFW S/S 2014

If it hasn't been noticeable for a while, the 90's are officially back. When Rag and Bone graced the runway yesterday, it was more than obvious that they are heading their designs in that era's way. The palette consisted mostly of black and white, with pops of pastel colors (favorably blue) and sleek middle parted hair. The crop tops, mesh netted dresses, platform shoes, and metallic fabrics were to die for. But, to the overall haters out there, you have to face it, they are back for good. With Rag and Bone showing contemporary and classic pieces, it's no wonder the brand is at the top of their game right now with many celebrity and street fans. Here are a few of my favorite looks below!

Look of the Day: Jamie Chung

And Day 1 of Fashion Week's best street style goes to... Jamie Chung! With Jamie being one of BCBG Max Azria's biggest fans, it was no surprise when she was seen backstage and front row. Like I've mentioned before, street style is another pivotal point of Fashion Week. Wearing a jacket straight from the runway, Jamie looks fabulous pairing it with a crop top made of fall's choice material: leather. Adding the pencil skirt and strappy heels make this outfit sleek and edgy. Downing head-to-toe BCBG, Jamie is the perfect candidate in showing how wearable and high fashion their designs can be. PERFECT choice for starting off the week.

BCBG Max Azria: Black & White with a Splash of Floral

New York Fashion Week is finally underway and by living in the Midwest I have been on Instagram and Twitter nonstop just to stay in touch with what is going down in NYC. So once I found out there was a live stream, I immediately pulled it up on my phone and began watching. Yes that means while walking to class I was staring straight at my phone, but thankfully I wasn't run over by bike or a car. Multitasking at its finest. The show that I have been obsessing over the whole morning and early afternoon is BCBG Max Azria. What was shown at the show for next Spring was luckily my favorite colors and prints. Black, white and floral. What could be any better than that?! This show has just made me so much more ready for Spring and for what else is to come from the rest of fashion week! Below are a few of my favorites looks from the show.
Xo,
Erin.

NYFW

After seeing endless Instagram, blog posts, and tweets from my favorite fashion bloggers abou their clothes and journey to New York for Fashion Week, I can officially say that I am the perfectly uncomfortable mix of sadness and jealously (seriously, if anyone wants to take me...). After throwing myself a pity party because I go to school in the Midwest, I have now decided that this week can only go up from here. With the shows starting tomorrow morning, I have a whole week to blog about the street style and trends straight from the runway. I'll be on a strict schedule this week juggling school, social life, and Fashion Week stalking, but at least I have Starbucks as my friend. I'm more than ecstatic about seeing what the designers have in mind for this Spring, as well as this week signifying the official entrance into fall fashion. When the weather finally starts to drop below the 80's for once, it may actually feel like fall is on it's way! As I anxiously wait for it's arrival, I'll at least have fashion month to keep me company with London's Fashion Week immediately proceeding New York's. Looks like I'll be spending more time attached to my laptop, but what's new? Until next time; I'll leave you with some fall fashion inspiration.
